Release Notes — Week of August 17, 2026: EMDR Tool, Assessment Library, and Smarter Credits
By Clerie Team
This release brings a full in-session EMDR bilateral stimulation tool, a redesigned assessment library with search and custom scoring, clearer client credit handling in billing, and more reliable telehealth video. Built for therapists who want an EHR that keeps pace with their practice.
EMDR Tool
- You can now launch a dedicated EMDR workspace directly from Session Actions, with a full-screen bilateral stimulation surface for both in-person and telehealth sessions.
- Choose your speed in passes per minute, pick a direction (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal), set a background colour, and enable audio — all adjustable with a slider or a precise numeric entry.
- Set an autostop target so a set ends on its own, and use preview runs to check your settings before you begin.
- Your last-used EMDR settings are remembered between sessions, including audio, so you can start a set without reconfiguring.
- Keyboard shortcuts let you toggle the controls panel and return to the session without reaching for the mouse.
- Clients see a clean participant overlay synced to the same clock you're watching, and you can see elapsed time and pass count during remote sets.
- Recorded set figures now appear where you write your clinical note, so bilateral stimulation is documented without retyping.
- "End EMDR for everyone" now reliably closes the tool for the whole room, and starting a run twice by accident no longer launches two sets.
Assessments
- The assessment library is now a single, consistently ordered list with search and filtering, so you can find the right measure quickly.
- Standardized measures are easier to read, with a cleaner row layout and one clear primary action per item.
- Your clinic can curate which measures appear in its library, and you can now edit a measure even if clients have already completed it.
- Custom assessments are charted as their own instrument, with severity bands that fit the chart properly and scores that are never clipped.
- Two charts that share a name are now always distinguishable, and assessments without a name no longer show an internal identifier.
- You can see when a client was last notified about an assignment, and cancelled assignments no longer appear as outstanding work.
Billing & Client Credit
- Applying a client credit now shows you exactly which sessions it will land on before and after you confirm, using the same session names you see everywhere else.
- Negative balances are correctly presented as available credit rather than an amount owed, and nothing shows as due when a client is in credit.
- Available credit is now reported per encounter with a breakdown that reconciles to its total, and voided encounters no longer advertise credit.
- The Client Pay list no longer paints settled rows as owed, and every column header lines up over its data.
- Refunds are safer: two staff members can't refund the same payment, cheque payments aren't pushed through Stripe, and a partial drain reduces the refund ceiling instead of removing the option.
- The service-line ledger has been refreshed — dollar signs inside money inputs, clearer "Writeoff" labels, event history newest-first, a refresh indicator, and Refund, Edit and Record payment actions placed beside the figures they affect.
- You'll now be warned when charges are billing a client who wasn't on the session, and removing a participant properly voids or archives the related encounter and draft claim.
Claims & Insurance
- You can now search the Claims tab by date of service, with a wider date-range picker and clear handling of reversed ranges.
- Invalid billing codes are caught at submission instead of being rejected later by the payer, and cleared diagnoses no longer transmit incorrectly.
- The insurance-response dialog has been reorganized with named sections, money figures front and centre, payer and provenance prefilled from the remittance, and Check as the default payment method.
- The payer picker now links out to Stedi's public payer directory, and payers are prefilled only when the available evidence agrees.
- Clinic billers now have access to the Unmatched ERAs tab, and you'll be warned before overriding a reconstructed claim's status.
- Archiving a session now cleanly undoes a reconstruction, remittance included, and multi-date remittances can be split into one session per date.
Telehealth Reliability
- Wedged incoming video now recovers automatically, so a frozen client video stream repairs itself instead of requiring a rejoin.
- Video blur no longer flickers on borderline devices, and joining from a link focuses your existing call tab rather than opening a second one.
Consents & Forms
- The client portal now shows every signed document, not just the most recent per form, organized into tabs with a cleaner signed-details view.
- A signed consent always renders the exact document it was signed against, with dates resolved as of signing time.
- Archiving a consent template no longer erases clients' previously signed consents.
- You can reset an individual consent form back to the Clerie library default, with a clear warning that the change can't be undone.
- Clerie's own templates are now visually distinguished from forms your clinic created, and form revisions are protected against conflicting simultaneous edits.
Messaging & Activity
- Scroll up to load older messages in a conversation, with faster and more accurate paging that no longer drops or duplicates messages.
- Conversations are ordered by real activity, long conversation names truncate gracefully, and the search box now states what it actually searches.
- Communication history is more complete and accurate, with channel badges, a refresh control, and assessment sends attributed to the client's therapist.
Progress Notes
- The progress note editor no longer carries one client's note into another client's session, and a same-session refresh won't discard unsaved work.
- At-a-glance information is correctly scoped to the right client, and signed notes can no longer be overwritten.
Smaller Improvements
- Clients are now addressed by their preferred name in the portal.
- You can search your clinic's feature request list.
- Internal links now open in the same tab consistently, with external-link icons only where they belong.
