Release Notes — Week of August 10, 2026: Guided ERA reconciliation, a rebuilt billing ledger, and stronger telehealth audio & video

By Clerie Team

This release brings guided remittance reconciliation, a redesigned client and payer billing ledger, more reliable telehealth audio and video recovery, and a new bilateral stimulation tool for EMDR sessions to your mental health EHR and practice management platform.

Insurance Remittance (ERA) Reconciliation

  • You can now work through unmatched remittances in a guided flow — create the client, session, encounter, and claim, then apply the payment, all without leaving the dialog.
  • Before anything is created, you'll see a review step showing exactly which records will be added, plus duplicate protection that refuses to recreate a service that already exists.
  • You can build a full insurance policy during reconciliation, including naming a parent or other responsible party, so new clients no longer dead-end the flow.
  • Matching a remittance to an existing claim now actually moves the money, closing a previous dead end.
  • The claim picker is sorted by date of service and flags claims whose dates differ, and it filters to only the claims you can act on.
  • Records created through reconciliation are clearly labeled so you can identify and attach them later.
  • You'll be warned when attaching a remittance to a claim your practice never submitted.
  • Remittance payments are now attributed to the correct practice with much stricter proof, so a payment can never be posted to the wrong clinic based on a guessed match.
  • Clearer refusal messages explain what happened when a remittance can't be applied, instead of leaving a worklist row stuck or inviting a duplicating retry.
  • Patient responsibility from a remittance now correctly relieves the insurance obligation on the encounter.

Billing & Ledger

  • The Claims tab now presents the four key amounts as directly editable fields with one consistent control, and edits land across every surface in a single round trip.
  • You can name a deductible, preview a change before committing it, and confirm a derived insurance obligation.
  • The Client Pay drawer has been rebuilt with collapsible sections, scrollable lists, a newest-first timeline, and all service lines expanded rather than just the first.
  • You can add a service to an encounter directly from its ledger, and code pickers now work inside dialogs.
  • Refunds are available from the Paid section for every payment method, and refund wording reflects how the payment was actually taken.
  • You can move a misapplied payment to account credit, void a payment from the ledger timeline, and adjust client responsibility from a single editing surface.
  • Write-offs behave correctly across the board: a client write-off no longer moves the insurance column, an insurance write-off clears the insurance balance, and voiding an encounter preserves write-off buckets.
  • Lowering a fee can now bring the associated responsibilities down with it.
  • Running balances, insurance obligations, and client balances are now conserved and reconstructed accurately, so ledger figures match what was actually recorded.
  • Corrected money is no longer refundable, spendable, or auto-allocatable, and a void can't resurrect it.
  • Check payments are recorded as checks rather than ACH, and every encounter card labels its money figures.
  • Money columns across claims and ledger views are aligned, spaced, and grouped so payer money and client money are visually distinct, with actions sitting under the figure they affect.
  • "This and future" edits now include the session you're editing, and over-large payment reversals are refused outright instead of quietly doing less.
  • Clearer, biller-friendly wording for out-of-balance warnings, and per-service copays now display what they actually are.

Telehealth

  • Background effects now work on iOS and Safari, with a smoother subject edge and a cleaner, collapsible background picker on both the pre-join screen and the in-call menu.
  • You can save up to five background images and pick from them at any time.
  • Microphone and camera problems now recover automatically, and you'll be told when your mic was never on at all or when your camera can't be reacquired — with one-tap remedies.
  • One tap to turn sound back on, and peers are no longer told a still-muted participant is unmuted.
  • In-call device pickers let you switch and pin your microphone and camera, with a persistent banner if a device stalls.
  • Session recording is more reliable: recorders can no longer outlive a session or be stranded by a connection problem, and video quality adapts more gracefully under load.
  • Your last-used camera and microphone are remembered when you join.

EMDR Tools

  • A new bilateral stimulation tool with an autostop, reduced-motion detection, a stereo audio check, and a disclaimer step before use.
  • Speed and movement are described in the field's own vocabulary — passes and sets — and settings changes take effect cleanly mid-session.

Subscription & AMA CPT Licensing

  • CPT licensing now has its own Subscription subtab, showing who your practice is licensed for and clear, severity-colored status.
  • Owners see a clear upcoming charge with the exact amount being authorized, can add a card in the same dialog that requested it, and pay immediately from that dialog.
  • Non-owner staff are warned before their clinic's access pauses, and locked-out users can still reach card controls, pay, or sign out.
  • Renewal dates are fixed and predictable, written-off charges no longer appear as upcoming, and reminder emails are branded and accurate about how often you're charged.
  • Failed payment attempts are described from their own records with accurate retry guidance, instead of vague or misleading messaging.

Messaging

  • Broadcast messages are now delivered into each recipient's own thread, tagged as broadcasts, with reply scope shown clearly on both sides.
  • Your broadcast outbox stays reachable after a large send and can't be altered by recipients.
  • Deep-linked conversations open even when they're outside the currently loaded page, and pinned conversations stay fresh.

Scheduling & Records

  • Session dates, superbill ranges, and service dates are now consistently shown in the correct office timezone, including across daylight saving changes.
  • Timezones are validated whenever they're saved, so a bad entry can't quietly skew scheduling.
  • Archived action items keep their biller context, and encounter history totals now reflect stored balances and charges accurately.

Security & Privacy

  • Superbill access is now strictly scoped to your own organization, and client self-access is opt-in and closed by default.
  • Owner demotion now fully revokes access, and primary-role changes are refused if they can't be recorded in the audit log.
  • Saving staff or client identity details no longer clears phone numbers or dates of birth, and ownership changes are properly audited.
  • Phone numbers and other sensitive details are masked in internal logs.
  • Clearinghouse transaction detail is no longer exposed to clinic users.
