Release Notes — Week of July 27, 2026: Smarter Assessments, Safer Billing, and Better Insurance Management

By Clerie Team

This week's Clerie EHR release brings safer risk-alert routing for assessments, in-app subscription payments, insurance card permissions, and a redesigned remittance workspace — helping therapists and mental health practices run practice management with more confidence.

Assessments

  • Risk alerts from screening tools now route to the whole care team on a case, so urgent responses aren't missed when a therapist is unavailable.
  • Intake screenings are now one-and-done — clients can't accidentally submit the same screener twice.
  • Completed assessments are locked as a permanent record. Delete and resend options are clearly disabled with an explanation instead of quietly disappearing.
  • Assessment content is now consistently hidden from team members without PHI access, including on session cards and client tabs.
  • Clearer, non-diagnostic wording on screening results, plus refined scoring and severity guidance across several instruments.
  • The assessment fill-out experience now uses a centered, easy-to-read layout on desktop and stacks cleanly on mobile.

Billing & Subscriptions

  • You can now subscribe and pay for a plan entirely in-app using a card on file — no redirect required — including adding a new card inline with cardholder names.
  • Manage your subscription payment methods directly in Clerie, with faster updates that no longer reload the whole tab.
  • Numerous safeguards now prevent duplicate charges, stale default cards, and incorrect billing outcomes, so what you see matches what you're actually charged.
  • Payment failures now show the real reason instead of a generic message.
  • Same-tier resubscription is supported, and your saved cards are preserved even if a refresh fails.
  • Before accepting a screening-related billing code, you'll be warned if the assessment isn't documented yet — and recommendations refresh automatically once it is.

Insurance & Documents

  • A dedicated insurance permission lets you decide exactly who can manage insurance cards and policies.
  • Insurance policy deletion now includes a confirmation step and loading state, and replaced cards are cleaned up only after the update succeeds.
  • The insurance tab has a refreshed, card-based look that matches the rest of the app.
  • Client documents are now permissioned by document class, so administrative records and clinical documents can be shared appropriately.
  • Document errors now explain what went wrong instead of failing silently, and reclassifying a document updates immediately without stale information.

Remittance & Claims

  • A new attribution console lets admins review remittances that couldn't be matched to an organization, see suggested matches, split a mixed remittance across organizations, correct a wrong split, and mark claims or an entire remittance as "not ours."
  • Remittance details now open in a side drawer with a shareable deep link, making it easier to review and hand off work.
  • Dry-run mode lets you preview remediation before anything is applied.
  • Coordination-of-benefits handling is more reliable: duplicate second remittances are held for review rather than double-counted, and secondary filing is blocked while a prior payer's remittance is unresolved.
  • Claim cancellation now re-checks payment status at the moment of cancellation, so you're warned before any money-impacting action.

Team Access & Scheduling

  • Deactivation now works for everyone on the team, including owners, with clearer wording about what access is being removed and the ability to reassign a caseload during offboarding.
  • Deactivated providers no longer appear for session assignment, and a searchable provider picker makes finding the right person faster.
  • Session edits now show the actual assigned therapist.
  • Recurring appointment edits and cancellations now resolve the correct occurrence, preventing accidental changes to other sessions.
  • The calendar keeps your scroll position when moving between dates and loads without jumping.

Client Portal & Search

  • Phone number search is back in the Clients tab and quick search, with progressive partial matching so you get results as you type.
  • The client portal case switcher now shows richer labels including participants, therapist, and clinic, and always displays the current therapist when switching cases.
  • Faster, smoother portal dashboard loading with fewer flickers.

Other Improvements

  • Logging out now fully clears your session, and switching accounts across browser tabs no longer shows stale data.
  • In-app links no longer open in new browser tabs unexpectedly.
  • Case deletion now requires typed confirmation and explains retention behavior clearly.
  • Clearer AI usage meters showing note equivalents, purchased credits, and accurate remaining balances.
