Release Notes — October 7, 2026: Secure Card Payments in the Client Portal

By Clerie Team

Clerie's EHR for mental health practitioners now supports bank-verified (3-D Secure) card payments in the client portal, with smarter billing corrections, clearer analytics, and a more focused support experience for therapists.

Client Portal Payments

  • Clients can now pay by card directly in the portal, completing their bank's verification step (3-D Secure) right in the Pay dialog when their card requires it.
  • Verified card payments are recorded automatically as soon as the bank confirms them, so you don't have to chase down whether a payment went through.
  • Unfinished verifications are now settled before a new payment is collected, preventing duplicate or stranded charges.
  • Payment confirmations now arrive reliably even if a client closes their browser mid-payment or if confirmations arrive out of order — a declined or cancelled attempt is clearly recorded as 'not charged'.
  • Retrying a payment after a 'nothing was charged' result is now treated as a fresh attempt, so clients aren't stuck.
  • Billing history in the portal refreshes every time a client returns to the page, with a visible refresh instead of stale information. If a superbill can't be re-read, the previously loaded list stays on screen rather than disappearing.

Billing & Corrections

  • When a correction leaves a client owing a balance, your team is now notified — and you can choose to forgive the amount.
  • Correcting or voiding a paper secondary claim now retires the client credit that came with it, keeping balances accurate.
  • View Claim now stays available on a session even when every claim on it has been cancelled, and a recovered claim is placed correctly alongside its related claims.
  • Autopay no longer draws from an invoice's account line, preventing unexpected double-billing and stuck balances.
  • Fixes for edge cases around legacy and spent credits, offboarded clinicians, and simultaneous payment allocations.
  • Financial views in the session dialog now refresh immediately after you save.

Analytics

  • Charts now show the date basis they're built on directly beneath them, so you always know what period you're looking at.
  • The claims-by-provider chart is now scoped to the questions it can actually answer, and sessions per therapist are charted by their stage on the Claims tab for more accurate reporting.

Staff & Client Accounts

  • Staff and client accounts are now cleanly separated by role, so people who work at your practice and people who receive care have distinct accounts.
  • Replies to kept message threads continue to land in the staff inbox, and a thread with any colleague stays visible to staff.
  • Faster loading when viewing your own sessions.

Support Experience

  • Support and feature requests are now staff-only, and the Support button is hidden on client-facing and short-link pages.
  • Feature requests are clearly labeled as visible to anyone using Clerie.
  • Links included with support requests no longer carry along search or query details, keeping sensitive information out of support tickets.
  • Clearer wording in our privacy notices about tools that may not be approved for PHI, plus small layout fixes.

Notes & Scheduling

  • The AI assistant now asks before charting a denial as 'Needs Attention' rather than assuming.
  • A late AI group draft now correctly names the session's current therapist.
  • The draft-provider prompt in scheduling is wider so its buttons fit comfortably.
