Release Notes — September 29, 2026: Smarter Payment Collection, Self Pay Filters, and More Accurate Claims

By Clerie Team

This Clerie EHR release brings credit-aware payment collection, new Self Pay search and filters, and a wave of accuracy fixes for claims and remittance posting — helping mental health therapists keep practice management billing clean and trustworthy.

Payments & Client Balances

  • Collect now opens on a client's full outstanding balance and automatically applies any available credit first, so you take fewer steps to settle an account.
  • Credit on file can now pay down account-level fees directly — no separate workaround needed.
  • Payments now show exactly which charges and sessions they were applied to, instead of surfacing just one of them.
  • Payment breakdowns now report where each receipt's money actually sits, including unapplied cash across older payments.
  • Balance and transaction amounts now always reflect current, live values rather than what was recorded when the entry was first created.
  • Looking up a single client's balance now resolves correctly to that client's practice, even if you work across multiple locations.

Self Pay & Billing

  • You can now search Self Pay and filter by client and date of service to find what you need faster.
  • Clearing your filters now reliably cancels any in-progress search, so results no longer refresh unexpectedly.
  • The client picker now selects the correct person when you navigate by keyboard — helpful when multiple clients share a name.
  • You can reorder ICD-10 diagnosis codes on a claim by swapping their positions.
  • Diagnoses on a claim now correctly stay tied to that claim's own patient.
  • Claim pages now refresh the Claims (Beta) rollup automatically, matching the session tab's behavior.

Claims Accuracy

  • Telehealth sessions now automatically derive the correct place-of-service code, with the alternate telehealth code available as a clearly labeled choice.
  • Resubmitted claims now track the correct submission identifier, so status and history stay accurate after a resubmit.
  • The rendering provider recorded on a claim is now read from the correct place in the claim file, improving payer acceptance.
  • Box 24G edits now stay with the claim editor, keeping line-level details consistent.

Remittance & ERA Posting

  • Payer take-backs now post accurately on replay: reclaimed money no longer generates a receipt, and take-backs that no longer stand are no longer treated as active.
  • Whether funds are still recouped is now determined from the actual money on the account rather than a chain of prior actions — producing more trustworthy reconciliation.
  • Net payment signs on remittances now match the underlying collected cash.
  • Reversal actions can no longer cancel out one another's corrections, preventing confusing double-undo results.
  • Remittance previews now explain why an item can't be posted instead of failing outright.
  • Genuine duplicate payments are now recognized and routed to the correct payer-refund workflow.

Cases, Clients & Permissions

  • A case's primary therapist must now be a therapist at that case's clinic, preventing invalid assignments.
  • Administrators who also see clients can now reassign a case's primary therapist.
  • Supervisors are correctly prevented from modifying a case's care team.
  • Care team and reassignment screens now reflect your actual, server-verified permissions for the specific client you're viewing — not a general default — so what you see matches what you can do.
  • Client-payment actions now re-verify that you still hold staff access at the moment you act.
