Release Notes — September 18, 2026: Accurate Claims, Clearer Onboarding, and Smarter User Access

This Clerie EHR release brings more accurate claim submissions, clearer onboarding guidance, and stronger user access controls for mental health practices — helping therapists keep billing and practice management clean and reliable.

Claims & Billing Accuracy

• Claims now require a place of service before they can be marked ready to submit, so nothing goes out with a blank or assumed location.
• If a place of service is missing at submission, Clerie now stops and tells you instead of quietly substituting an office location.
• Every path that creates a claim now records the place of service from a single consistent source, so your claims agree with one another.
• Voided claims now correctly mirror the original claim the payer is holding, and the guidance you see no longer suggests actions that would break that pairing.
• Facility details are now presented as advisory guidance rather than a hard block, with clearer messaging when something doesn't match.
• Whole-block auto-fill makes filling out claim forms faster, with fewer repeated entries.

Remittance & Payment Posting

• Payment advice now records the payer's actual payment method — check, ACH, or other — read directly from the remittance rather than assumed, so your posted payments reflect reality.
• Unrecognized payment methods are carried through corrections without being overwritten, and the payment method picker starts empty when no valid method exists so your first selection always sticks.
• Adjustment group codes are now validated when remittance is received; unexpected values are refused up front instead of being silently accepted.
• Files that can't be read are now clearly refused, with the specific problem area identified on the record so you know exactly what to follow up on.
• Remittance received events now reliably appear in the activity feed.
• Historical payment advice has been corrected so past records show the true payment method.

User Access & Permissions

• Changing someone's role now automatically resets their permissions to your clinic's defaults, so access stays predictable.
• When a non-owner is granted every permission, Clerie now suggests the Owner role instead of leaving a near-owner account in place.
• You can now add the Therapist role directly from Edit User.
• Saving user access changes is now handled per person, so one slow or failed save no longer affects others — and a failed save never overwrites a newer confirmed value or discards a pending recommendation.
• "Reset to role defaults" now confirms against the server's result, so what you see is what was actually saved.
• The protected-health-information restriction now behaves consistently with other permission settings.
• Office admins no longer see links to owner-only access settings.

Onboarding & Setup

• Onboarding now uses one consistent definition of a completed step, so progress indicators no longer contradict their own descriptions.
• Profile Setup and Payment & Billing now list only the items that are actually missing, instead of everything.
• Optional items no longer block completion: an emergency contact is optional, and a copay card is recommended rather than required.
• Advisory notes across onboarding now share one consistent, unobtrusive style.
• Screenings completed during intake now count toward onboarding progress, and hidden cross-cut screenings can drive client reminders.

Provider & Support Workflow

• Support requests can now have separate development and support assignees, and newly assigned team members are notified by email.
• The Providers page has been streamlined by removing the Invite Provider action in favor of your primary invitation flow.
• Clicking the logo while signed out now takes you to the Clerie homepage.

Performance & Reliability

• Deployment and image delivery improvements make releases faster and more consistent, with fewer cold starts after an update.
